A foolish deer loved a wolf's sly smile,
And followed his footsteps mile after mile.
She dreamed of shelter; he dreamed of prey;
Love closed their eyes and led them astray.
They forged a pact meant to set them both free:
He swore not to hunt her; she swore not to flee.
The forest stood witness and kindled their flame,
A wolf and a deer in love without shame.
But hunger and ache consumed them both;
Doubt ruined their minds and shattered their oath.
For he was too wild to quell his desire,
And she was too frail to withstand his fire.
